copper engraved map with old hand colouring; overall 31 x 45 cm, plate 25 x 24 cm. fold as issued; foxing and browning; edges slightly frayed; on verso ink printed number which is slightly shining through on recto; old paper hinges. o/w vg cond.

An attractive map of the American continent by Vaugondy, republished by Delamarche in year III according to the French Revolutionary calendar (calendrier révolutionnaire français) which was established on October 5, 1793 (l’An I) in order to replace the Gregorian calendar and remove all religious and royalist influences from the calendar.
