Very decorative print of an armillary sphere with a putti holding a scroll with the Zodiac signs, a double hemisphere world map and various astrological instrument scattered on a table. From the French edition of ?Description de l?Univers…? .
Manesson-Mallet began his career as a musket bearer tou Louis XIV before he became an engineer and Sergeant Major of artillary in Portugal. On his return, he was given the title ?Maitre des Mathematiques? by the King. In 1683, he published his ?Description de l?Univers?, followed in 1684 by a German edition.
