Charles Ancelin (1863-1940) was a French illustrator, specialising in equestrian scenes, rendered in the Art Deco style. This print shows several riders at flat racing, followed by a third rider in the background. Signed in the plate, and numbered No. 9 in pencil on lower right corner.

Pochoir or Stencil technique creates images by applying usually high-pigmented paint through a sheet of material, ie paper, plastic, cardboard etc that has been perforated with a pattern and creating a pattern on the surface below.
