colour printed map, overall 55 x 67 cm. folds down to 23 x 12 cm. brownish paper cover, tears, some stains and split to c’fold; map: folds as issued; some marginal tears; tiny little pin holes throughout; some dusting around edges; o/w vg cond.

A very decorative pictorial map of South Africa by Ernst Ullmann, with a ‘Brief Guide to South African Travel’ on the verso. ‘Issued by The Publicity and Travel Deprtament, South African Railways and Harbours, and printed in the Union of South Africa.’

Ullmann was born in Munich, Germany, and studied art at the Munich Academy of Fine arts, followed by studies in philosophy and art history, and further studies in Berlin.
