copper engraved map with original outline colouring; overall 77 x 53 cm, plate 57 x 49 cm. fold as issued; some thinning in c’fold; some slight discolouration and some faint foxing and staining; small split in left c’fold not affecting image; o/w vg cond.
A very decorative map of Gibraltar first issued by Charles p. Boulanger, then by Santini in 1776, followed by Remondini in 1784.
The cartouche is in the shape of an animal skin, tied to two columns; ships are depicted in the sea; there’s an inset of the Plan de Gibraltar. Gibraltar and Ceuta are shown in great detail.
